Adria Airways was established and
started operations in 1961 as a charter operator under the name of Adria
Aviopromet (Adria Airways). In 1968, the airline changed its name to
Inex-Adria Airways and introduced its first jet, the DC-9. Scheduled
international flights were added in November 1983 and by the late 1980s
the company was again renamed Adria Airways and attained the role of
Slovenia's flag carrier. In March 1996 Adria was partially privatized
and on November 18, 2004 joined the Star Alliance as a regional member |
