Royal Jordanian was established
on December 9, 1963 and started operations on December 15 of the same
year after a royal decree by the late King Hussein. The airline was
originally named Alia Jordanian Airlines to honor the King's late wife
and started with only a handful of airplanes and three international
routes, to Kuwait City, Beirut and Cairo. In 1986, Alia changed its name
to Royal Jordanian. On October 17, 2005, the airline joined oneworld
Alliance, becoming the first Middle East airline to join a worldwide
alliance. |
